The Marriage of Your Dreams Book Review

By October 18, 2012Book Reviews

The Marriage of Your Dreams was written by Rick Johnson as a woman’s guide to understanding your man. The assumption for the book is that you’re already married and have a desire to be the best wife possible. Written with a Christian perspective, the book includes several Bible verses about marriage. Author Rick Johnson knows his audience when he titled the first chapter “What’s Wrong with His Mother Anyway” followed by “His Father, Role Model.” Once we learn about his family influences, we are then introduced to ten different aspects of men.

The author explores man’s relationships, communication, work, sexuality, and need for respect and admiration. He discusses your husband’s potential for meeting your needs and expectations and what he desires in a wife.  The topics are general in nature and define men as a group, not necessarily as individuals. He points out that not all men, for example, are driven to cheat on their wives or turn their eyes to porn, yet these topics are addressed in the book. Generally speaking, the book covers the male-female differences and solutions to coexist as a loving and content couple.  It’s interesting to see the male perspective and consider some of the ideas mentioned in the book.

I found the book interesting to read, though I was not overly impressed with the content. There are some good ideas and suggestions for viewing your marriage from a man’s perspective.
