You don’t need to be afraid or face a frightening event in order to read the new book Fearless-Imagine Your Life Without Fear by Max Lucado. The book is not specific to facing the mountain; it’s specific to facing everyday life.
In this book readers will examine fear, expose fear and discover scripture based methods to battle fear. Why wait until the night before your biopsy results are revealed, or the day before you lose your home to financial loss…when you can read the book BEFORE you stand before a challenge. In the Fearless book, you’ll discover life skills that enable you to react with faith, not fear.
From cover to cover, Fearless-Imagine Your Life Without Fear by Max Lucado is brilliant. The book revealed my hidden fears and suggested Biblical solutions for my known fears. One of my favorite moments in the book is when the author says “Christ followers contract malaria, bury children and battle addictions, and, as a result, face fears. It’s not the absence of storms that set us apart. It’s whom we discover in the storm: an unstirred Jesus.” I’ve witnessed my friends during these storms-two buried babies, one battled childhood leukemia, one lost her husband to a sudden death. My sister raises her son with Juvenile Diabetes, my stepdad sits in a wheelchair from Multiple Sclerosis, and my husband nearly died from a rare blood disease. Storms. During my storms, Jesus found me, and returned me to his flock and protection. As each storm passed, I found my courage in scripture.
The Discussion Guide at the end of the book offers an opportunity for Examining Fear, Exposing Fear and Battling Fear. The subject interests me because in my church small group, we often discuss the fear of God and its meaning. Lucado clearly defines this in one of the final chapters of his book; it would be a great topic for Bible study.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Book Szneeze in exchange for my honest review.
