Etiquette

Welcome to our Bible Cafe- a place to study the Bible with other Christian women.

Why We Created This Blog

We’ve been attending Womens Bible Study in small groups for several years, and benefited greatly from group Bible studies.

We often wonder why more women are not participating in life altering, enriching studies such as these. The most common objection is the time commitment, because women are so busy with everyday life. They do not have the time for a structured Bible Study and often miss an opportunity to learn and study the Bible with other women.

We want to reach out in ministry to those women who are unable to participate in a church Bible Study or Small Group Bible Study. We’re sharing our passion and enjoyment for reading the Bible through spirit-filled authors. We’d like to share resources that encourage your personal spiritual growth, because they enhanced ours. We want you to feel the benefits so many women enjoy from a structured study of the Bible.

We know from our own experience that the wisdom of these authors, the knowledge they are willing to share with the Bible study and the changes we have felt in our own lives are reasons to study and learn with other women. We want you to feel the passion within the pages of your Bible.

Once you complete your first Bible study, you’ll become as addicted as a coffee drinker…and desire a daily dose!

Who We Are

We are NOT affiliated with the authors or with LifeWay® Christian Press. We’re just a simple group of women who have experienced the joy and transformation from Womens Bible Study. We’re encouraging other women to get into a study and explore the depth and passion and live verses found within the Holy Bible. We are women with life verses discovered through womens Bible Study.

Getting Started in Women’s Bible Study

If you are new to a Women’s Bible Study or an experienced prayer warrior, you’ll want to start here to join the online Bible Study for Women.

What You Need

Getting started is a challenge for many women, and we created this site to simplify your motivation. When I attended my first organized Bible study, I was completely embarrassed to realize I did not have a Bible! The women sitting in chairs around me were quite prepared. They unpacked tote bags with multi-color highlighters, pretty bookmarks, thick and worn Bibles and reference guides. I sat there searching for the single pen inside my handbag, and when I couldn’t find it, I was offered a Bible and a pen for the study.

As you study with us from your office, your home or even your car while waiting in the carpool line, you’ll want to keep a few things by your side. I keep my Bible Study materials inside a large tote bag that I received at a Design 4 Living Conference. Then, I can bring my Bible bag into the car, to the group study, or locate the study items when I need them.

Make sure you have these resources for the study

  1. The current workbook for your study.
    • This is always listed in the first lesson or introduction of the current study.
  2. A Bible, any translation is fine.
    • Most women prefer the NIV- New International Version or the NKJV- New King James Version. Make sure the print is large enough to read or you’ll soon be frustrated with the study.
  3. Pens or pencil, paper and highlighters.
    • I like to use one color highlighter for the entire study, then when I start a new study, I use a different color. It’s one of the quirky things about me. When I look at my large print Bible and see scriptures highlighted in green, I remember that was the time I participated in a specific study. I use the pencils or pens to mark inside my Bible, sometimes I’ll jot a quick note, a name or a specific date next to the scripture verse I’m reading on that day. If the verse “speaks” to me and touches my heart, then I’ll make sure I identify it so I can find it again. Really great verses are written on scraps of paper, and later I’ll use them for something creative.

Optional Resources

  1. Audio recordings for the current study.
    • You’ll often find audio recordings to assist you in the Bible Study. If you participate in a church small group, then the church will play the DVD’s associated with the lesson. If you study from home, then I recommend you invest in the audio recordings to enhance your experience. It is during the audio lessons that many women experience a life changing moment, a connection to the study or an emotional memory. There is nothing more satisfying than hearing an author such as Beth Moore or Kay Arthur teach the lesson with her own voice and words.
    • Depending on the study, you’ll find audio CD’s the same place you find the workbook, at the authors website, or more recently, on iTunes. Look around until you find what you need. You’re never wasting your money when you invest in the audio recordings.
    • During the study, I listen to the current lesson, over and over, for the entire week of the study. As I am driving carpool, my children listen too and they will comment on something they hear.
