Alice Theobald earned her Bachelor degree in Health care administration at the age of 52. She’s currently retired and previously had her own Window Treatment business as her children were growing up. She also worked in the insurance industry. Alice lives with her husband of 35 years, her daughter and toddler age granddaughter. Her 2 grandchildren are the light of her life with two more grandchildren due summer of 2017!!! In her local church Alice serves as a hostess in the coffee shop but her heart is for Women’s Ministry. Her life verse is Isaac 61:3 because the Lord has made beauty for ashes out of her life. Alice studies the New International Version as well as YouVerse
Barbra Maxey Jackson is a retired widow living in SE Oklahoma and she has three single adult children who live nearby. She worked for Ethan Allen Furniture Mfg. for thirty years in customer service and has a degree in Medical Technology from Oklahoma State University. Barbra serves her local church in teaching, writing, counseling and as a devoted prayer warrior who also sings soprano in the church choir. Her Life Verse is Psalm 62:1 –“I am at rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him.” (HCSB) The Bible she uses for most study is the NLT Life Application Bible and the NKJV Apologetics Bible.
Brianna Goode is a homeschooling, stay at home mom of four littles. She earned an undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a Masters of Business Administration from Belhaven University. She lives in Tennessee with her husband and four precious littles. She volunteers as a facilitator of her small group at Calvary Chapel, as well as helping in the children’s ministry. Her family verse is Joshua 24:15 “…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (NKJV). She has too many seasons and experiences to have just one favorite verse! For her personal study she uses the Holman Study Bible NKJV or the ESV Study Bible.
Carla Brooks has a Bachelors degree in Accounting from the University of Central Florida. She lives in Orlando,FL with her husband and two daughters. Carla is a writer, blogger, and bible study addict who works by day as a sales administrator. Carla is a licensed minister and serves in several ministries at her local church. Her favorite bible verse is – “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28 KJV. Although she has yet to find a bible she doesn’t love, Carla’s current favorite bibles for personal quiet time are the Life Application Study Bible and the ESV Bible.
Carol Graft lives in Michigan with her husband of 32 years and 4 of her 7 children, homeschooling only one now. She serves in a variety of ways in her local church: Director of blacklight puppetry team, worship team, communion speaker, intercessor team, sunday school teacher. She’s Head of the women’s intercessory group for the Apostolic Christian Network fellowship and Leads/moderates 2 local Bible study groups- One for women and one for all. The women’s group had so much fun during the first study they wanted their spouses etc to join. So a 2nd group was born. ( singles, children, spouses etc). She has many favorite Bible verses, but the main ones are Isaiah 61:1-4 and Ezekiel 37:1-10.
Caroline Trinkle Hawthorne is a United Methodist Minister currently serving in Southwest Virginia. She holds her Bachelors degree in Accounting and has practiced in her own Accounting firm since 2003. She lives with her teenage son in Northeast Tennessee. She recently became a widow after a marriage to her best friend for almost eighteen years. She is very involved in her local church, working with the poor and oppressed children in her immediate church community. Her favorite Bible verses are, John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; APART FROM ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING.” and Exodus 14:14, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to BE STILL.” Caroline enjoys reading all Bible translations and does so each week as she prepares her sermons, her favorite Bibles are her Life Application Study Bible and her Chronological Study Bible. She enjoys camping, crossfit, swimming and reading in her free time.
Carrol Bier Warkentin is married and lives in British Columbia Canada. Her husband and herself are in semi retirement and have been married 28 years. They have three children, two sons, and a daughter together. Christel their daughter was just recently married and they are now empty nesters!!! Carrol has supported her husband who was a businessman in agriculture. They now live in the country and enjoy a simple life. She loves the WBC as it came at a time in life when she was looking for fulfillment. Her favourite verse in the bible is ” Be Still and Know I am God”. She does not have a favourite bible version, she enjoys many to learn and grow in multiple translations. Carrol loves to encourage other women and to pray for those who are in need.
Christine Abraham serves as Founder and Director of Womens Bible Cafe™ since 2009. She earned a Graduate of Theology in Biblical Studies from Liberty University. She lives in California with her two teenage daughters and husband of 20+ years. She’s a writer, blogger, and social media consultant and volunteers as librarian in Christian schools. Her favorite Bible verse is Deut. 6:5 – you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength (NLT). For her personal study Christine uses The Spirit Filled Bible, The Prayer Bible, Life Application Study Bible, and The Hebrew-Greek Key Word Study Bible, plus BibleGateway.com for parallel translations.
Christine Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in Information & Library Science from the University of Michigan, where she still lives. After many years as a librarian, she took a stab at writing the books and is now blessed to write Christian historical romance. Her favorite Bible verse is Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” She uses the Life Application Bible (NIV) for study and for Old Testament Scripture references the Tree of Life (TLV) version. Cindy Webster lives in Southern California and previously worked as an in-home caregiver, now disabled. She’s a year-round volunteer for Operation Christmas Child as the Area Prayer Team Coordinator and Relay Center Coordinator. Cindy found this verse a few years ago and it has become her favorite: Zephaniah 3:17 “The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” She uses the Archeological Study Bible, Bible Gateway and her Parallel Bible which has 4 translations in one volume for studying.
Fides Faith Santos has a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and an Associate degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. She is currently working at an outpatient clinic specializing in orthopedics. Born and raised in the Philippines, she now resides in Illinois, USA with her husband of 20 years. She was invited to serve and now co-lead a Bible study at WBC and loves the time spent with these ladies. Psalm 46:10(NKJV) “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” represents her trust and faith in God, that no matter what, He is God. She enjoys different Bible translations especially the NKJV and is excited to start on her new NKJV Journaling Bible! She also receives blessings from listening to teachings from Bible teachers online and on the radio while driving to and from work
Gina Lockwood Windle earned a BSE in secondary English Education and an MSE in school guidance and counseling. She lives in Arkansas with her husband of 20 years. She has one daughter who resides in heaven. She’s worked as a high school counselor for many years. She also teaches an adult Sunday School class, serves with the children’s ministry, and volunteers with a variety of projects in her hometown. Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 138:8, “The LORD will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me.” (NLT) Her favorite Bibles include the Spirit Filled Life Bible, the Chronological Study Bible, and Strong’s Concordance of the Bible as well as the YouVersion Bible app.
Heather C King is a busy-and-blessed wife and mom to four and the author of two published books: “Anywhere Faith” and “Ask Me Anything, Lord.” She has a bachelor’s degree in English from The University of Maryland and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Regent University. She is a worship leader and women’s ministry leader at her church in Virginia, and she serves as a ministry leader and the book club director for the Womens Bible Café. Karen Doyle Buckwalter earned a Master of Social Work degree from Temple University after completing her Bachelor of Science Degree at Penn State University. She then obtained 2 year post masters certificate in marriage and family therapy and became a licensed clinical social worker. For the last 23 years she has worked at a faith based social service agency with a specialization in working with attachment and trauma issues in adopted children. Her first book about this work will be published in July 2017. She lives with her husband in South Carolina, has two grown children and is a proud new grandma. She co-leads a small group at her local church. Her favorite Bible verse is John 8:32 “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” For personal Bible Study Karen prefers the Life Application Study Bible.
Lakecia Harris Lakecia Harris earned a master’s degree in College Counseling and Personnel Services from The University of Southern Mississippi. She is also a certified Executive Life and Leadership Coach. She lives in Montgomery, Alabama with her husband and son. Professionally she currently teaches 9th grade Language Arts and teaches ladies bible classes at her local church. Her favorite verse is Proverbs 31:25…She is clothed with strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future. For her personal study, Lakecia uses the Life Application Study bible, New International Version and the English Standard Version along with the New Living Translation for bible and personal journaling
LaTanya Knight is a licensed and ordained minister. She has co-pastored the Tree of Life Church in Ft. Worth, Texas with her husband for the past 10 years. LaTanya and her husband of 20+ years are now enjoying the lifestyle of being empty nesters. She currently serves in public school education utilizing her gifts of administration. When she thinks about all the pitfalls and setbacks that life throws, the verses that gives her heart encouragement and peace are: Jude 24, 25 ~ Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Lauren Martinez earned a B.A Degree in Parks and Resources, from California State University, Chico. She lives in California with her husband and has three adult children and four grandchildren. She has served with the Federal Government for over 25 years, working in Public Relations for most of her career. She completed a 2-year “School of Women’s Ministries” program through her local church and enjoys leading Bible studies with the Women’s Bible Cafe to encourage women in their walk with God. Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God, and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” For her personal study, Lauren uses the NIV Application Study Bible, the Amplified Bible, and the NLT Spirit Filled Life Bible.
Lisa Brown earned a certified professional coders degree. She lives in Texas working in the medical field as receptionist, collector, working contracts for the medical field, and a coder. She is currently unemployed and waiting on her disability benefits. Her favorite Bible verses are Psalms 23 and she memorized the verses as a child. She also loves Proverbs 30. Lisa enjoys reading the NLT version and the Words Womens Bible for it gives her an account of the women of the Bible. She is single (never married) and has a little dog that keeps her up on her toes. She’s enjoyed reading many Beth Moore books along with her Bible study guides, but now learning from more Bible teaching authors. Lisa is currently living with her parents and praying she might be able to live on her own with God’s help and guidance.
Mary Beth Floyd earned a BA in Elementary Education and worked 35 years as a Kg and First Grade teacher and also as an Early Interventionist for children with special needs. She lives in the mountains of East TN with her husband of 40+ years, and her 2 sons and their families are nearby. She volunteers in her local church as Ministry Leader for Kids Small Groups (similar to Awanas for Elem children) and a small group leader in Celebrate Recovery. She also assists in Sunday School and special events in her church. Her life verse is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice Always; Pray without ceasing; In everything give thanks. She uses several Bible versions, but her favorite is an NIV Study Bible.
Melissa Henderson lives in Mechanicsville, VA. She was born in Hampton and has lived in various cities in VA. She and her husband, Alan, have been married for over 37 years and have one son(Mike) who is married to daughter-in-love(Christine). Melissa was taught the love of reading and writing at an early age, from her parents. She is now working on her first inspirational fiction novel. Rajini Kurien is married and lives in Sydney, Australia. She , her husband and two children were earlier in Bangalore, India and recently moved to Australia. Her husband and herself are both working in the IT industry and have been married for 10+ years now. They have three children, two sons, and a daughter together. They have been blessed with two children , their son Ryan ( 7 years old ) and daughter Joanna ( 2 years old).She enjoys making friends and encourage women who are in need .She serves in children’s ministry at her local church.She is eager to learn the word and loves listening to messages.She currently reads the NIV version. Her favourite verse in the bible is “Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him and who have been called according to his purpose.” and the verse in Genesis 50:20 “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”She admits she does not know much , but she is eager to learn and she has seen it that indeed all things … all things (including being led to read/join this) work together for good of those who love God , who seek Him with all their heart. She has keenly joined WBC to learn more for all those whom she will be led to meet.
Rosette DeGuzman earned a Bachelors of Science major in Accounting. She lives in Illinois and works as an Executive Assistant in a HomeCare agency. Her favorite verse is Romans 8:28 “for all things work together for good to those who loves God and to them who are called according to his purpose.”
Sajna Kuruvilla earned ACA India, CIMA Dip UK and currently leads WBC international from Sydney Australia. She has experience as a Manager planning & reporting with an insurance company. In her local church she is the Financial Officer in charge of church accounts. Her favorite Bible verse – “but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Sherilynn Morales Matsumoto trained to be a back office medical assistant, worked for a dermatologist and then became a stay-at-home wife and mom. She has three grown children and nine grandchildren. At this time, she lives with her husband and mother-in-law in Merced where her husband is Dean of the School of Engineering at UC Merced. Sheri was infected with Lyme disease 29 years ago and is suffering the late-stage effects of it. However, God gives her JOY every day and she tries to spread it as best she can. She volunteers at her church’s welcome desk, which is a perfect fit, since she’s a super extrovert. She was invited to join WBC 2.5 years ago, and was soon immersed in Bible studies with them. Sheri’s life verse is Habakkuk 3:17-19: “Though the fig tree should not blossom and there be no fruit on the vine; though the yield of olive should fail and the fields produce no food; though the flock should be cut off from the fold and there be no cattle in the stalls, YET WILL I EXULT IN THE LORD. I will REJOICE in the God of my salvation. The LORD GOD is my strength, and he makes my feet like hinds’ feet, and makes me walk on my high places.” Sheri wants to launch her blog in mid-January, 2017.
Sonya Morris Nelson serves as Director of Leadership and co-director at Womens Bible Cafe. She earned a Bachelors in Liberal Arts/Psychology. She lives in Pennsylvania with her two children and husband of 20 years. She is a former banker and is currently a corporate trainer. She volunteers in her local church as a new member teacher and class leader coordinator. Sonya loves Psalm 34:1 “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” (NASB) Reading different versions of scripture is exciting to Sonya and she uses the Life Application Study Bible, The Chronological Study Bible, The Maxwell Leadership Bible. Sonya uses online apps and mobile apps such as Biblegateway.com and the YouVersion app and iDisciple.
Stasia Nielsen serves as Co-Director with the Women’s Bible Café. She has served alongside her husband of 32 years on 4 continents as the homeschooling #missionarymomma of 6 children. Her passion is to share in true colors the grace of God in her life and her life verse is ‘Romans 5:5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.’ Stasia also serves as a Chaplain for the Billy Graham Rapid Response Teams. At the present, Stasia serves as the Hospitality and Ministry Service Director for the Laredo Stepping Stone, an Interdenominational Ministry Center, facilitating missions and missionaries—helping the homeless and other less fortunate people on the U.S. border and in Mexico.
Sue Ott is a stay at home mom who has been married to her highschool sweetheart for 21 years and counting. She has a 17 year old daughter who is cyber schooled, and her 90 year old mother (she was a surprise baby!) lives with her also, so the house is never quiet! She loves the women that she leads in two Bible studies at her church. Being a prayer warrior is her passion along with studying theology. Her favorite verse is “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” She is totally unable to pick a favorite version of the Bible, but is currently enjoying using the NIV First Century Study Bible.
