Knowing God By Name Online Bible Study Week 7

Welcome back to womens online bible study as we discuss Knowing God By Name by Mary Kassian. We’ve just finished reading our final lesson and we’ve learned 35 different names of God. We are sufficient in Him and our bible study was a good reminder of this important message. Too often we look outside of our relationship with God and we seek satisfaction in things of the world. If we just turn to Him…we have all we really need.

This bible study reactivated my craving for a deeper relationship with God. As we spent seven weeks focused on His character, I found myself seeking Him. To satisfy my craving, I pulled out a bible I had in storage called the Key Word Study Bible and started reading from the beginning. I used my pen to mark His promises and commands, and my highlighter to mark key passages that melted into my heart.  El Ro-I or the God who sees me, inspired me to see more of Him through scripture, church, worship and prayer. I find the Immanuel irresistible and I want Him to be the focus of my life.

Keep the flash cards from this bible study with you, and continue to memorize His name. Knowing God is not a seven week exercise…it’s a lifetime experience. Pray over the names, scan scripture for more examples of His names, and let the name of God settle into your hearts and minds. Share what you know with others.

It has been my pleasure to lead this study and to learn with you. Thank you to the small group leaders who prayed over you and sent you updates each week to help you stay on track. May you be blessed in the presence of  Rav-Chesed.

Knowing God by Name Online Bible Study Week 6

Welcome back to womens online bible study as we discuss Knowing God By Name by Mary Kassian. We’ve just finished reading week six and we have one more week of study remaining. This week was my favorite as we considered our intimacy with God. For some of you this is a new idea…and for others it was a reminder of His continuous presence in your life. Earlier in January I selected “Heiress” as my one word to reflect on this year…and it fits perfectly into this study. An heiress has more intimacy with her Father than the general subjects. She has access to his heart, his wisdom, his guidance and even his discipline. She is loved by him before she is even born and the treasure of his heart. Do you realize that you have this relationship with your Father God?

Sometimes we think God is too big to be our Daddy. Or maybe we stumbled and walk with our heads down in shame, so we don’t want Him to notice us. Yet the truth is…you matter to Him more than you can ever imagine. He’s not like your earthly father, grandfather or stepdad…He is Abba. Take some time this week and think about what this means to you. If you struggle with being an Heiress…send me an email and let’s chat about it. We are Daughters of the King.

As His daughter, we have access to His heart. We have the ability to bring joy to our Father, or to bring sorrow. I can tell you with certainty I brought sorrow to God in my prodigal run, and I can testify that He accepted me back- forgiven and free. Today I live my life in love with my Father and I consider if my actions are  pleasing to Him. I’ve read “His book” and I know the path He desires for me. My choice is to follow it…or to follow the ways of this world. As I follow God I’ve been much happier, more intimate with Him and received the gift of deep love which no human can ever offer me. God is love and He wants me. I am secure knowing that He will never abandon me or hurt me. He delights in me and I delight in Him. I am Daddy’s girl.

Seek intimacy with God. You are His Daughter.

Knowing God By Name Online Bible Study Week 5

Welcome back to womens online bible study as we discuss Knowing God By Name by Mary Kassian. We’ve just finished reading week five in our books and we learned about the splendor of God. Our study began with a discussion of the northern lights, also known as aurora borealis. We found this video from National Geographic via YouTube and selected it because it has more than a million views…it’s a visual example of splendor.

“We are motivated to pursue that which we find most attractive,” writes Mary Kassian. She used the example of how we decorate our homes and wear clothes that make us feel attractive. When we seek a vacation destination, the most beautiful locations are always at the top of list. We want to relax in the splendor of His creation and spend time reflecting on it.

God shines bright, He is warmth and radiance in our dark world.

He delights in His children…and deserves our praise. Here’s a praise video we thought you would enjoy:

Knowing God By Name Online Bible Study Week 4

Welcome back to womens online bible study as we continue reading Knowing God By Name by Mary Kassian. We’ve just finished reading week four and we have two weeks remaining in this bible study. Make sure to order your book for Nehemiah as they often sell out when Beth Moore leads a summer bible study. To register for the summer bible study- click here.

Our first day of study was filled with the visual splendor of royalty and we created banners inside our book with images associated with monarchs.  We know that God rules heaven and earth, He has the ultimate kingdom power and is the supreme authority over our lives, from beginning to end. “He is the ultimate and undisputed ruler of the universe. All other powers are subservient to him, writes Mary Kassian.

In our study we saw how God is Melek Yahweh Tsabaot, the King LORD of Hosts. His immeasurable army protects His children, the family He loves. Satan has his own army of angels as seen in Revelation 12:9 NIV- The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. Scripture is clear that God is the ultimate authority….and we should not make angels into idols or give them more importance than the LORD. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 NIV

On page 89 of the book you were asked to cast down your own pride and self-exaltation, reminding yourself to live under the authority of God. Your Princess crown should reflect His heart, not one based on worldly values and things. Be genuine in faith. Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine. When Jesus wraps this all up, it’s your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory. 1 Peter 1:7 Message

Knowing God by Name Online Bible Study Week 3

Welcome back to womens online bible study as we discuss Knowing God By Name by Mary Kassian. We’ve just finished reading week three in our books as we learned about God’s power. We saw through scripture how His name means mighty power, LORD creator, the God who works wonders, LORD healer and God almighty. It was another amazing week of bible study!

Sometimes we’re too distracted to pay attention to His presence.  The image of Niagara Falls used by Mary Kassian is a good visual. As I reflected on this I though of the amazing thunderstorms, a rainbow bursting through a cloudy sky or lightening as it spatters a dark night. I realize in each situation I need to LOOK UP to see His visible power. When my head is down or I’m looking across the table at a friend for advice…I’m not tapping into the ultimate source of power. Nothing compares to the power of God!

This week I realized that God’s creation is both visible and invisible all at once. It’s visible beauty and majesty to those who believe in Him. It’s invisible to those who have closed their eyes to God’s Word. My response is one of respect and love for the Father who orchestrates from above.

Mary Kassian writes “This week we have been studying God’s names of power. These names indicate there is no shortage of power with God.”  Here’s an important verse every Christian should know: Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1 NIV

Jesus had confidence when he was nailed to the cross, a perfect and sinless man. Jesus hoped for God’s will to be complete in Him. If you are struggling spiritually and have holes that need mending…seek Jesus in scripture. Reach for the Word of God and spend time the the almighty One. Discover the power source of a Christian life and let His light shine through you.

If you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you. 1 Peter 4:19 NLT

God is good, always.
