About Wonderstruck: Awaken to the Nearness of God (from Lifeway.com)

Wonderstruck: Awaken to the Nearness of God – Member Book by Margaret Feinberg is a 7-session Bible study filmed in the spectacular Canadian rockies that will remind you what it means to awaken to wonder—every day. Do you ever feel like you’re going through the motions of faith? Sometimes we do and say the right things, but our hearts are far from God. We lose our sense of holy awe. In Wonderstruck, Margaret Feinberg invites you to toss back the covers, climb out of bed, and drink in the fullness of life God intended.

You will learn how to:

  • Develop a renewed passion for God
  • Identify what’s holding you back in prayer
  • Find extraordinary moments on ordinary days
  • Discover peace in knowing you’re wildly loved
  • Recognize the presence of God in the midst of your routine

This will be my first online Bible study, and I will be doing it with a couple of friends, I hope! I have lived in Okinawa, Japan for a year, and it had its beauty, BUT the place that has my heart the most (ex husband was in the Air Force so we moved around a lot) is what I called “God’s Country” in Washington State near Mount Rainer. To be just a few miles from the ocean and another few miles from the mountains was such a peaceful and serene place to live for my soul.

  • Andrea Nicole says:

    Hi Ladies,

God Bless you all. I’m very excited to be a part of this online bible study. It’s wonderful to be able to connect with women from the world over in the name of Jesus. 🙂 My name is Andrea and I am a born-n-bred New Yorker; hailing from the very colorful and flamboyant Spanish Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan. I absolutely LOVE where I was raised.

I left NYC in 2006 and moved to Fort Worth, TX; I enjoyed my time there and am considering going back to Dallas to enter seminary school in the next year or two. For now, I live in the crab state of Maryland. I have a wonderful 7 year old daughter and am presently going through a divorce. I know that God can give you a true peace which passes all understanding and He will sustain you during tough times.

I’m a woman who doesn’t have favorites or can say “the most beautiful place is…” but driving along the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) on a trip to visit family was absolutely gorgeous. On that day, the mountains puffed out their broad chiseled chests, the trees saluted, the sky was an ocean blue and the clouds danced the merengue. It was a beautiful sight. I would love to travel more and get to see more of this beautiful land.

I’m looking forward to this study and the beginning of something new in my life.

  • My name is Jeanette Edgar and I live in a suburb of Dallas, Texas. The most beautiful place I’ve visited is probably Lake Louise, but I’ve enjoyed many beautiful mountains. I’d also like to go to Israel someday.

For that reason I want to be in on the beginning of the next one I attend which I’d like to be Wonderstruck which I’ve read a little of a sample copy. I see what the author means by seeing God in the beauty of his creation. We have come to live in West Wales (a place I have vistied on holiday from England during my childhood) for our early retirement and the Snowdonia coast – for me takes some beating. When it’s not too windy my husband and I walk to chuch on the Barmouth railway bridge which has some stunning scenary! Andrea.

I feel that I am pretty close to God and my faith is strong, but it could always be stronger and I would also like to show my husband the way as he seems to have lost his faith. We also have a 2 year old son, so I would like to be able to do my best in teaching him about God and having faith. I feel so blessed to have found this site and looking forward to joining the next study. God bless, Joanne.

I’m vanda from Singapore. The most beautiful place I’ve visited is undoubtedly the top of the Yosemite Tioga paq. We visited Yosemite and was going over the pass to mammoth mountain. Well that was the plan but there was freak snow that year (2010 early summer) and the pass was closed longer than usual. We went anyway and was rewarded with news of the pass opening just the night before. We were rewarded with the most breathtaking view from the top, the adrenaline rush of a challenging drive down and simply marvelled at God’s creation and the fact that we could actually drive over the highest real that day. ‘awesome’ couldn’t describe it!

Hi! I’m Pam Gray from Texas. This is my first time doing a Bible study on the women’s Bible Cafe. I am excited to have an opportunity to do a Bible study again. The most beautiful place I have ever visited was the Rocky Mountains in NM and CO. Every July growing up, we would travel from hot Texas to the mountains. . There was nothing like seeing the first mountain with snow. I would live to get to go there again. One day I hope to travel to a place that I have never gone, Italy. Maybe some day…

  • Pam H says:

Good evening! I am Pam from Louisiana. I haven’t really visited too many places but one day I would like to go to Tenneessee, especially Chattanooga. I drove through Tennessee one time on my way through to Kentucky. What I saw from passing through was gorgeous.

And it’s really hard to describe the most beautiful place I’ve visited…I grew up in New England and absolutely love how God uses His paintbrush in the fall. I’ve visited Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Mt. Rainier, Yosemite National Park and Glacier Lake and several trips back and forth across the Rockies….they each have their own beauty. Just love how the rocks and stones cry out and witness to God’s presence and existence!

    • Bonnie, can’t wait to hear what you think of Wonderstruck! Praying for you as you begin!

  • Pam Meadows says:

Hi, I’m Pam and I live in Clinton, MS. The most beautiful place I have seen is New England in the fall! How can anyone say that there is no God, when the trees are so beautiful with color! I’m looking forward to the Bible Study, I have not participated in Women’s Bible Cafe’ before, so I am excited to “meet” new friends and study God’s word.

  • Sharon Lewis says:

Hello, I’m Sharon from Thomaston, GA. You can count me in on this study! As for the most beautiful place I have been, it’s hard to pinpoint it. I could include vacations in the Smokies, the Grand Canyon, hot-air ballooning over the desert in Sedona, Arizona, or traveling the lush, green hills of Scotland. Those were all so beautiful! But I think my favorite place is the Sandals resort in the Bahamas where our daughter got married. It was paradise!

  • Deb Schlaud says:

Hello from Michigan. I’ve not participated in a Bible Cafe for Women Bible study yet and am really looking forward to this one! My husband and I have traveled quite often to what we call “out west” – I can’t really pick a “most beautiful” place because there are so many beautiful places in our United States. Such wonderful, beautiful, creations of God! Every time we travel out there we find a new wonder.

  • Shan says:

I am Shan from West Central Wisconsin…. The most beautiful place I have visited so far ( I can only pick one? lol) has been the grounds of the castle at Vizcaya in the Miami area. I would love to visit Ireland, Scotland and England someday…my heritage awaits! 😉

    Greeting from Chicago sisters,

Umm what can I say that I have NOTsaid in the past, I am originally from New York and currently living in Chicago. Same weather, street names and food, different mentality though.
Germany was really nice, I didn’t get to see much of it but I was stationed in Pirmasens and while there I got to see Munchweiler, Frankfort and Piramasens. But I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to visit Alaska. I love snow and the cold, but to experience the diversity there would be absolutely one of the best vacations I could take.

  • Hello from Texas! I have not done a tremendous amount of travel, but I guess one of the most beautiful places I have been was standing atop a mountain in the Colorado Rockies and looking down, across, and afar at peaks, valleys, lakes. My dream is to travel more, especially to Europe and Israel.

  • Sonya says:

I cannot wait to begin this study! So Excited about it!

  • Sonya says:

I am Sonya, I am from Pittsburgh, PA and I would love to visit Alaska on a cruise, some of my family have gone and have said it is absolutely beautiful.

    • missy2u says:

We should connect Sonya none and I mean NONE of my friends want to go. We could give ourselves like 3 years to save for it and then go.

(that is once they get these issues resolved with the cruiseline)
