As a mother of three, I’m more aware now of all the things I don’t know about parenting than I was before my first pregnancy, which is why I believe in the power and necessity of praying for our children. If anyone needs God’s help, it’s those of us who have been entrusted with the care and responsibility of little ones. In her book, Parenting on Your Knees, Vicki Tiede’s focus is on taking everything about those busy and sometimes crazy preschool years to God in prayer.
With short chapters (perfect for the mom of tiny children always on the go), Tiede tells stories about children and their parents and concludes each chapter with a prayer. Over the course of the book, parents will pray about teaching their kids responsibility, patience, honesty, self-control and practical skills like potty-training, cleaning up toys, having manners, sharing toys, and not tattling. She also includes recommended books for children and parents that fit with each topic in the book.
This is a great tool for young moms who are tired, busy and in need of a laugh, a sense that they aren’t alone, and some encouragement that what they are doing matters for eternity.
