True Woman 101 Week 2

Welcome back to the Womens Bible Study Cafe and our weekly discussion of  True Woman 101  by Mary Kassian and Nancy Leigh DeMoss. If you joined us in small groups then you know we had some amazing conversations this past week. Let’s continue the conversation this week as we discuss God’s plan for men. By understanding the design for men we’ll have a foundation to spend the remainder of the study learning God’s purpose for women.

We learned in our week 2 study that men were created for a specific purpose and design. In the video segment Mary Kassian teaches us that our culture downplays gifts given to men from the Father, even to the point where they may feel shamed for being a man. “As women, we undermine manhood and who God has made them to be,” says Nancy Leigh DeMoss. Our nature is to protect men or keep them from failing, and this is counterproductive to man’s purpose. We believe we’re helping with our wisdom and give directions when they were never asked for, opening the door to criticism. Consider asking questions in a pleasant way, without negative facial expressions, and you’ll get a better response.

In a modern feminist world, we’re encouraged to dominate men. We dominate men in the name of equality, when in actuality we’re elevating ourselves above God’s purpose and design. Both men and women will agree “it’s her choice to abort their baby, because it’s her body.”  Extreme example, I know. The definition of equality is the state of being equal, esp. in status, rights, and opportunities. The definition of dominance is power and influence over others.

We dominate men when we define their roles, rather than allowing God to define their roles. This week we that learned men were created for a unique purpose, just as women are unique in their purpose. God was intentional in creating male and female, and never makes mistakes.

There are times when men wish they were born female, and women wish they were born as men…times when we’re frustrated by our God-given roles and limitations. As a society we want to be our own gods, creating our own roles, and sitting on pedestals of achievement and honors. You can find thousands of best seller books on how to achieve beyond your Godly purpose.

Or…you can read the Bible…

and discern God’s plan and purpose for creating men and women differently.

You can pray and ask the Lord to show you any areas where you may be dominating the men in your life.

Be the woman who inspires men to fill their God-given roles.

Be the woman who has the courage to submit to God’s will for men.

When you fill the role God has designed you to be, the men in your life will fill their roles too. Let God lead.
