Book Review for 88 Great Daddy-Daughter Dates

When I saw the book 88 Great Daddy-Daughter Dates: Fun, Easy & Creative Ways to Build Memories Together by Ron and Joanna Teigen I knew immediately I wanted to read and review it! I’ve been encouraging my husband to take our two daughters on dates and he’s enjoyed making memories with the girls. Though my husband has had his own creative ideas for the dates- such as taking our teen daughter for a day at Berkeley and sharing the culture with her- I found the book filled with even more ideas.

There are 88 different ideas for daddy-daughter dates in this book, but many can also be enjoyed by mothers, aunts and other family members. You don’t have to be a dad to enjoy it! I found some of the ideas we’ve already done with our daughters and a few ideas for new adventures we haven’t tried. Some of the date adventures include

  • Creating a time capsule
  • Be a blessing to Mom (personal favorite)
  • She can build it
  • Treasure box
  • Garage sales
  • Count your blessings

The book is filled with wonderful ideas for creating memories with your daughter.  Each idea begins with a supply list of simple items for your date, an action idea called “Go” and a section called “Grow” with biblical application and conversation starters for your date. You’ll also find a beautiful prayer to accompany the experience.

The book 88 Great Daddy-Daughter Dates by Ron and Joanna Teigen is beautifully written from the heart. It’s intent is to encourage time with your daughter and create lasting memories. Some dates are simple and others are extreme- so enjoy the moments before she moves out of the house and the opportunity has passed you by. Get a copy of the book 88 Great Daddy-Daughter Dates: Fun, Easy & Creative Ways to Build Memories Together or give one to a friend….you will not be disappointed.

I’ve seen this book before. I think it’s great. It’s so encouraging to see dads recognizing the importance of their relationships with their kids, especially daughters. It’s critical and foundational. There’s another book I bet you would like, too. We’ve been reading this great new, actually renewed, book. Great for all dads of daughters. We’re loving it, so I have to share… It’s called “She Calls Me Daddy: 7 Things You Need to Know About Building a Complete Daughter,” by Robert Wolgemuth. Originally released in the 90s, it was a best seller. His girls are grown up and give their own input along with their husbands who are daddies to girls. I understand 40% of the book is new material. It’s so unique in this way. Robert puts the anxieties of Daddy raising his girl(s) to rest, guiding you through challenges and good times – protecting, conversation, affection, discipline, laughter, faith, conduct. So great for helping daddies learn to lead, love and cherish. I highly recommend it!
