A Different Kind of Wild by Debbie Alsdorf is an invitation to leave your tame faith behind and experience the spiritual life God has planned for you. Written by a personal friend and the Women’s Ministry Leader at my church-Cornerstone Fellowship-Debbie provides her personal insights and stories about women living an untamed faith. Her stories are about courage and hope during a lifelong journey with God.
Becoming WILD actually stands for “women in lifelong development” and describes a journey of spiritual growth. In the book, Debbie explains how to focus our vision from horizontal thinking based upon earthly standards to vertical thinking based upon Biblical standards. At the end of each chapter Debbie coaches you to experience WILD faith when you Look Up, Pray Up and Live Up.
A Different Kind of Wild by Debbie Alsdorf is an interactive book with reader focused questions at the end of each chapter. For convenience, the author has also included a Bible Study Guide at the end of the book. The book is well structured and organized with several scripture references and possible life verses.
I enjoyed the book from cover to cover, as I discovered this book filled with personal stories and real life experiences. It was encouraging to see WILD faith in action as we experience spiritual growth, choose to live by a different standard and find courage to follow a new path. After reading the book I discovered how to shift my path from self-focus to God focus by Living Up. One of my favorite moments in the book is when the author wrote “Jesus met me at the crossroads of love and hate.” In this book, we learn about forgiveness, managing worry, fighting strongholds and living a Christian life.
I highly recommend A Different Kind of Wild by Debbie Alsdorf for personal spiritual development. In fact, I’ve already given a copy to my Mom for her birthday gift and one to a friend approaching a new spiritual path. In the book Debbie affirms “You will never regret learning to trust God with the details of living.” If you want to live a WILD life of lifelong spiritual development, then you’ll want to read this book as a roadmap.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Books in exchange for my honest review. In addition, I also purchased four more copies and gave them away as gifts.
