Be sure to visit Beth Moore’s blog and see what she has planned for the 2011 Siesta Scripture Memory Team (called SSMT). Please join her in scripture memorization this year, and if you participate, by the end of the year you will have memorized 24 scripture verses. Why is this important? Because the bible tells us so:
- Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:14-17 NIV
- Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Deuteornomy 11:18 NIV
What is SSMT?
“Siesta” is just an endearment for “Sister.”
“Scripture” is what you are going to focus on a verse at a time.
“Memory” is your method to internalize 24 verses this year.
“Team” is because we stand like a long line with our swords drawn.

Your SSMT Siesta,

Fallon, from Indiana “Before I formed you in your mother’s womb, I Knew you and approved of you as My chosen instrument.”-Jeremiah !:5.
“For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning. Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners) that we may recieve mercy (for our failures) and find grace to help in good time for every need (appropriate help and well-timed help coming to us just when we need it.)-Hebrews 4:15-16 (both from AMP Bible.)
i chose these because i need constant remider that god loves me and that i can come to him with anything.
I love how God uses the most unique, creative ways to get you back on track. I started this year following Mandisa’s footsteps and memorizing 1 verse a month (she was doing passage), life got in the way and I was sidetracked. I was at our annual women’s retreat this past weekend (AWESOME) where I was reminded to finish what I started. We were given our birth verse key chains (mine is Deut 11:18), topic was Keys to Living Authentic in Christ (so many references to knowing the scripture); and God speaking to my heart all reminded me to go back. Our SS class is doing Revelation and knowing the scripture so as to identify the anti-christ; and now this website. I love how He works! Thank you for doing this, I’m blessed to have a great reminder!
Duet 11:18 is one of my life verses.
