Witness His Love (Day 10.2)

Witness to OthersThank you for returning to our study, Breaking Free Updated Edition, with Beth Moore. Today we reviewed the five benefits of our covenant relationship with God (page 222) and we learned about sharing that love that resides inside us.

The lesson reminds me of the book called Crazy Love by Francis Chan, as he describes a passion and a fire for Christ. When we are passionate, on-fire Christians, others will see it in our faces, hear it in our voices and know it by our actions. We witness and share His love with others and in His name.

Beth gives some suggestions on page 225 about how you can witness His love to others. Please think about those women you can invite to Bible study, online or in your home. We are starting three new bible study lessons on February 22 with three leaders at the Bible Cafe. We’re also “repeating” the Breaking Free Updated Edition study, since we’ve had so many requests from people who missed it during Christmas. So if you’re Discerning the Voice of God, Breaking Free or reading about 5 Conversations You Must Have With Your Daughter…invite a friend, neighbor, co-worker or family member to study and grow in faith with you.

Prayer Requests

Father God, let us be  witness to your love. As Daughters of the King, we feel your love, accept your discipline and know your commands. Our heart’s desire is to share this with others, and to shout with praise your wonderful name. Shower us with your blessings as we reach out to others with the greatness of your love. Amen.

Beth Moore Quotes

  • We can have a lust for His power without a yearning for His presence-Beth Moore
  • No one has to force a person who is intimately acquainted with God to be a living witness-Beth Moore

Today’s Scripture Verses

Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. Isaiah 64:4

However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” 1 Corinthians 2:9

“You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed,  nor will there be one after me.” Isaiah 43:10

Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts. Isaiah 26:8

I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. Psalm 63:4

I sing in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 63:7

Just this morning, a minister asked me if I would witness for him and he could share my story! My first instinct was to decline, based on past experience. When I witness to others, especially when members of my family are involved, I am wrongly judged. Those who do not KNOW Christ are quick to condemn, frequently turning away from the relationship. I’ve found safety in witnessing to those who DESIRE to know Christ, not in witnessing to those who live in pride, and thrive on gossip. Bible study and Twitter have opened this door for me, allowing me to witness and share my story with others, as we speak scripture, and pray for one another.

Why then…is it easier to witness to people we don’t know…than to witness to people we do know. As I sat in my church small group and shared my story, I heard many women gasp for air! Some in the group knew my family and story, while others told me not to speak openly.

We witness…only as far as society, church, family, friends and neighbors will allow. I’m not sure this was God’s intention!

I created the Bible Cafe so women could witness with truth, in safety and with God at the center of their hearts. Now, more leaders joining the Bible Study Cafe, we’re growing and and witnessing His love…one Bible study at a time!

I’ve been thinking about this for several days. Since I don’t work anymore I don’t have a lot of contact with people but I try to conduct myself as an ambassador of Christ when going to the grocery store or any store by not getting mad or upset when those normal delays at the register come up & so forth because that might give me a chance to witness to those in front of me or in back of me. We take Him with us wherever we go. Even being on Twitter I have realized that I need to conduct myself as belonging to Jesus because there are people following us who may be atheists, other religions that may take up conversation with us and we may get a chance to witness to them perhaps on one of those bad days. I am still an imperfect person and at times we all lose our patience but I am striving to be aware of how I am representing the Lord not because I want to impress anyone but because I love Him and I want to serve Him. We are ambassadors of Jesus Christ–that is a high calling but when we are weak He is strong.

I’ve seen God’s presence magnified on Twitter. I have more than 5,000 followers because I tweet scripture blasts, not because I tweet about my family or my coffee addiction. I dragged my feet about having a Twitter or facebook account, now I see the tremendous value when a woman isolated and unable to exerience Christ, can do so through her internet connection. Seek opportunity to PRAISE HIM, not ourselves. I’ve enjoyed the experience too!

Yes, I ask the Lord for balance in this because we need to be able to meet people at their point of need and sometimes they can be witnessed to through sharing hobbies (as long as the hobby doesn’t come before Him). I’ve seen some knitting Bible studies on line and other things that women are attracted to. I think God can use our interests as long as they are wholesome to show the life giving and freedom we receive in Christ. This is something that I have asked for more insight on from the Lord.
