Discerning the Voice of GodNext week we’ll begin Discerning the Voice of God when our bible study begins on February 22.  This will be a daily online study, with an online small group format. For many of you, the online study is a new format. These are some suggestions to help you get started in online Bible study:

  1. Introductions: Take time to introduce yourself to the group so we know a little more about you and also who is taking the study with us.
  2. Subscribe to this Blog: You’ll get daily updates by email when you subscribe to the blog feed. We’ve got three studies going on right now…just read the emails that pertain to Discerning the Voice of God.
  3. Bible Study Workbooks and Lessons: You’ll need the workbook for Discerning the Voice of God, required for the Bible study. You’ll also need to download the answers to the viewer guide. Both audio and video sessions are available from Lifeway, recommended for the study, but optional. The lesson materials are available online for purchase from Lifeway stores. We’re not affiliated with Lifeway and we don’t receive any discount or compensation from them.
  4. Pray: Your Bible study will be most effective if you pray before each lesson. Pray for clarity and understanding and for God’s word to speak to your heart. Pray for the other women participating in this study. If you have a special prayer request, please post it as a comment.
  5. Scripture Verses: We post scripture verses related to the lesson. In this workbook, Discerning the Voice of God, author Priscilla Shirer uses the New American Standard Bible (NASB) translation. We’ll post verses in this translation and at the end of the verse, there’s a link to Bible Gateway, where you can “translate” the verse into another format.  Please try to really chew on these verses so you can truly “hear” what God has for you to hear.
  6. Comment: Everyone is welcome to comment on the study and share your thoughts about the lesson. Feel free to post your comment on any day of the week. Ask questions, share scriptures and participate in the Group discussion listed at the end of each blog post.  The Bible says that “iron sharpens iron” and we can glean from one another.
  7. Privacy: Please do not use the real names of your family members, neighbors, church members or coworkers when posting comments. Respect the privacy of others.
  8. Reading Schedule: The workbook is organized into six weeks with six video/audio sessions.   Even though the audio/video sessions are not required if you can afford to get them they will definitely add to your experience with this study.  If you get behind don’t let yourself get stressed about it but whatever you do please do not give up.  Just pray for perseverance to stay on task.

Now you’re ready to start reading in Bible study with us! If you have any questions, feel free to email Charmaine, the leader of Discerning the Voice of God.  Next week on February 22, we’ll start our study.

If you are not familiar with author and speaker Priscilla Shirer, then visit her website at Going Beyond Ministries.  You will definitely enjoy her style of teaching.

I am really looking forward to this study – -I am facing a family crisis and so need to hear God’s voice, loud and clear. My heart is broken by the events taking place – - I need prayer . . .and I know only with God’s help will I be able to face the days ahead. I am so glad that you are offering this study!

So sorry to hear that you are having to go thru this Susan.

Father God, We pray on this night for your daughter Susan. You know everything about her Lord and what is going on in her situation. She is being obedient Lord and seeking you at a time when many people will turn away and isolate so Lord we ask that out of her obedience you will bless her Lord with strength and wisdom for the days ahead. Give her rest and peace in her slumber Lord and may she hear your voice above any other voice especially that of the enemy who is a liar. In Jesus name Amen
