At the Bible Cafe, we’re Breaking Free as we continue to study the 10th Anniversary Updated Edition of this popular Beth Moore Bible study. We’re in the middle of week seven as we focus on obedience to God. Today’s lesson is about freedom, as rebellious children are often screaming “I just want to be free!” Without Biblical guidance, we seek freedom in the wrong people, places or things. Breaking Free is our opportunity to find freedom in Christ and center out thoughts on Him.
Today we’re going to look at three Beth Moore quotes from our study.
- Long before there was a beginning, God had already planned the end-Beth Moore Reread this quote, and this time look at your sin or bondage. The one sin or bondage that troubles you most. Long before there was (my sin or bondage) God had already planned the end. Your sin or bondage, the one that troubles you the most, was the beginning to the end-freedom. In this study, you are Breaking Free towards an end that God planned, not you. Move forward in the freedom as you continue in study.
- When we see ourselves as the center of the universe, we live in constant frustration because the rest of creation refuses to revolve around us-Beth Moore If you’re a Mom, this quote may hit home with you because children often act like they are the center of the universe. Our universe. Look at the statement again, and see how YOU fit into this role. Do you want the world to revolve around you, meet your expectations and your needs. When they do not meet your expectations, are you frustrated. Who needs to be the center of the universe….
- Life vastly simplifies and satisfaction greatly amplifies when we begin to realize our awesome roles-Beth Moore According to this statement, we BEGIN to realize our roles. We’re not there yet, and we are still Breaking Free in our study. What we think our roles are may be different than what God knows our roles are. Pray about this during the week and keep an open heart as you discover your awesome role.
Prayer Requests
Father God, you planned the end long before there was a beginning to my bondage. At times, I’ve lived with myself as the center of the universe and experienced constant frustration. Simplify my life and amplify my satisfaction as you reveal my true roles. In Jesus name, amen.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” Romans 8:15

Group Discussion
Have you experienced freedom in one part of your life while remaining in bondage to another? Please explain.
Breaking free,

I was a heavy alcoholic for many yrs. When I got out of Gods way and let Him do what He needed to do, I began my journey of being sober. I have been set free in that area but the smoking I have struggled with on and off. My husband, both my parents, my younger brother have all quit and has not picked it back up. Me I battle it everyday. I know I have to surrender that area to God like I done the alcohol, but I dont understand why I keep holding on to it. Pray for me please.
