intro

It’s time to post our introductions for the next Breaking Free Bible Study. This is a ten week Bible Study for women.

How to Participate

  • We’re a small group study and there is no cost to join the online Bible Cafe. We support our ministry with sponsor ads. You need to provide your own workbook for the study, about $20 after shipping.
  • Be sure to order your new workbook Breaking Free Updated Edition by Beth Moore.
  • Allow 7-10 days for shipping from the time you order your workbook.

Using Pseudonym

The new study is very intimate and personal as we share strongholds from our past. If it helps you become more transparent and allows you to reveal your feelings safely and without fear, we suggest you participate with a pseudonym for this study. A pseudonym is a fictitious name and commonly used by authors and celebrities. Here is a list of pseudonyms.

We’ll be discussing affairs, addictions, abuse, abortion and other strongholds.

Many women are NOT comfortable discussing this at church small groups, so we have the security of the Womens Bible cafe to hide your public identity and reveal your inner self. To experience true spiritual growth, you need to be truthful with God.  We do not ask for your email address in this study and we protect your identity.

When you introduce yourself, please use the same name throughout the study. Use your first name only, your middle name, a nickname or anything that you can remember for the next ten weeks. If you want, you can participate as your real self and create as second profile as your “stronghold” self with a nickname. If you are confused by this, please email Christine

Introduce Yourself

  • Your first name or a pseudo-name
  • Your state or country
  • Your favorite childhood book

We enjoy getting to know each other, so we’re going to share our favorite Childhood Book! When you were a young girl, what book was your favorite and why?

My name is Christine and I’m from California. I’m excited to participate in a Beth Moore study. My favorite childhood books were Anne of Green Gables and Pippi Longstocking. I liked the spirited personalities of these girls-always finding themselves in trouble and finding solutions to their problems. Welcome to the Bible study!

  2. Charmaine says:

Hi! I’m Charmaine and I live in Tennessee. I am so happy to have found the
Bible Cafe for Women. My favorite books when I was growing up was the Trixie Belden series. They were always solving great little mysteries. I always liked any biographies of historical characters also.

It’s me Margaret.” “Deenie” was good too.

  5. Theresa says:

Hi I am Theresa. I live in Northern California. I am looking forward to this study as well. I spent alot of time with my Grandmother growing up and I love The Bobsey Twins Series. It is an old set of books printed in 1919. I also really loved the A.A. Milne books “When We Were Very Young” and “Now We Are Six. They were part of my Pooh Collection.

  6. Katie Liz says:

Looking forward to getting started in November on this newly revised study!
I have to agree with a previous poster that my favorite books were the Judy Blume books. I read them over and over again!

  7. Stacey says:

Hello everyone, my name is Stacey. I enjoy anything with Beth Moore’s name stamped on it!! So I know I will benefit and grow from this online lesson series of Breaking Free. My favorite books growing up were definitely anything Judy Blume, My favorite of hers was “Are You there God? It’s Me, Margaret”. 9. darla says:

Looking forward to do this..i love her studies (did them all! LOL so she has been my mentor of sorts, like a spiritual mom) i always learn so much, and just love my time with the Lord, no day works well if i don’t do that.

I don’t remember a favorite book, but i do remember reading all the time..strange…LOL

  10. Joni says:

Sorry I missed the last Bible Study, work-related “stuff” kept me from participating. I’m thinking I will be able to keep up this time. Looking forward to this study, have completed almost all Beth’s other Bible Studies, but this one is sure to be revealing in many ways.
My favorite books were the Nancy Drew series and I live South of the Mason Dixon line.

  11. Kathy says:

    Hello, All!
I’m Kathy and I live in Wyoming. I love Bible Study – and Beth Moore is far and away my favorite Bible Study author! This is one of the few left of hers that I have not yet been able to participate in.

My favorite book as a young girl was Little Women – and with 3 daughters I love having the chance to share it again with each of them!

  12. Jini Lynn says:

I’m from Clearwater, Florida. I am looking forward to starting this Beth Moore Bible Study. I have been searching for a Bible Study to start and just came across this website. God does answer prayers. I didn’t really read much when I was younger but I do remember reading in school Pilgrims Progress and i loved it and read it a couple of times after we had too.

Also…I’m all new to do. What is the procedure for when this starts? How does this work?

  13. Deborah says:

I would really like to do this study with you. I think I like the fact that you are “strangers”. I haven’t challenged group at church to try this one yet. My question is…I have the old member book and the old CD’s. Can I use them instead of the new book?

As for the introduction…I’m Deborah, living in middle Tennessee. I’ve done most of Beth’s studies and sat in the recording of the Stepping Up study, but not done that study yet. I’ve been putting off doing this one too, but I think I’m ready to break free from some stuff.

Favorite book as a child….entirely too many…I read all the Nancy Drews and Hardy Boys. We were on the children’s Scholastic mailings so we always had books coming in. But I remember reading Dale Evan’s story of the child she lost when I was about in the 8th grade and that has always stuck with me, can’t remember the name.

    • Christine says:

You’ll need the UPDATED edition for the workbook and you can still use the older CD’s. They’re 10 years old and Beth has updated them with new content. The workbook is required for this study, the audio/video is optional due to the expense.

  14. Lucy says:

Hi. I’m Lucy. I live in Georgia. I’m looking forward to doing this bible study. I don’t remember having a favorite book when I was younger but I do remember reading Johnathon Livingston Seagull… strange, very strange.

  15. Ruth says:

Hi there!! My name is Ruth and I live outside of Atlanta, Georgia. I have been involved in many bible studies before, including Beth Moore studies, but I have never done an on-line study with a group of women that I do not know personally. I am looking forward to this new experience and getting to know all of you “virtually” and seeing God work in all of our lives through this study. I am a stay at home mom of two teen daughters..I LOVE to read, write and I have a passion for girls ministry and ministering to moms of teenage girls and love to study the bible…
Hmmm, childhood books…when I was younger, I read a lot of Nancy Drew books as well as Little House on the Prairie and of course the Boxcar Children. One of my all time favorite books though was Where the Red Fern Grows!!!

  18. Sarann says:

This will be my first study with you guys. I’ve done other Beth Moore studies and just felt so encouraged.

My name is Sara, won’t be using another name, mainly because I’ve been so open to others online and off about my strongholds and how God made my husband and I stronger through it all. God gets all the glory in my story…. even my name. :)

Anyhow, my favorite books growing up were The BabySitters Club, The Diary of Anne Frank, and Where the Wild Things Are.

  19. Pam says:

Praise God! We’re going to start soon! Miss the group.
Am from CA and loved the cat mysteries involving a cat from outerspace who could talk, think they made the Disney movies out of that book.
Was going to use pseudonym, but the bravery of all the other ladies made me decide not to hide, so let’s be gentle, as always, with each other’s honesty. Thank you all, you are inspirations already.

  20. Sherry says:

Hi I am Sherry. I hope to participate in this Bible Study.
I am still trying to find the workbook here in Ontario, Canada.
This is my first online study so please encourage me in any way you feel you can.I have completed one other Beth Moore with my ladies Bible Study thru my church and I enjoyed it immensely.
I love reading and any Christian fiction is wonderful.
Karen Kingsbury is my all time favourite but I have many, many others as well.
My favourite book as a child was Heidi.
My grade 2 teacher read it to us and I think that is what began my love affair with reading!

I have heard some great things about studies done with Beth Moore, so I’m really looking forward to this study and meeting others.

I live in California – the SF bay area!
My favorite book as a child is a hard one – I remember several books as I loved to read, but I think the ones I remember the most as a young pre-teen was the ‘Goosebumps’ series. It was popular among all the students in my school!

  29. Theresa says:

I just made decision to participate as well and am praying my book arrives in time. I’m in Northern California and I found a favorite book in almost everyone’s post above. I used to go home from the library with huge stacks of books weekly…just can’t pick one! :) Looking forward to the study!

  30. Magdalene says:

Sorry, Im late getting started. I’m a southern girl. My favorite book as a child was whatever I had in my hand at the time. I read everything. I lived for reading. It was my escape from reality. Wished I had more time now for reading. Hoping this study will open my time and heart to His word!!!

  31. Amanda B says:

Hi! I am Amanda. I live in Georgia. This will be my first Beth Moore Bible Study and I really look forward to it. I am excited because my church did this study a couple of years ago and I missed it. I have already received my workbook and look forward to getting started.

  32. Sheila says:

Hi, Im Sheila. I live in Ga and this will be my first Beth Moore study. I am looking forward to this study. I work at home and dont have alot of contact with others. I am excited to discover more about the Lord and myself. My favorite childhood book would have to have been the Betsy series or Pippi Longstocking.

  34. KC says:

Hello all. I’m KC and live in Oklahoma!

I am in a small ladies group, but we have lapsed into more of a social group lately. I have been praying for a study to challenge me and bring me back into the word and this Beth Moore study showed up on my twitter timeline.

I have always been a voracious reader and have read many of the above books and series. I think my favorites when I was a child were the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mysteries, but always love a good science fiction or horror story as well.

Looking forward to this study with you ladies.

  35. karen says:

Hi, my name is Karen and I live in Missouri. I read alot as a child and still do. I don’t have a favorite book-just a genre. I love mysteries! I am looking forward to this Bible study. It’s my first online bible study, so I am really excited to participate and get to know everyone :) !

  36. kathyh says:

I would like to join! I’ll call Lifeway and order my book today!

I’m Kathy from Arkansas. I did BF twice when it was new, but I need to do it again for the holidays!

I want to download the audios, but my husband doesn’t let me put my credit card on the internet. I have an iTunes card, but the cover of the iTunes downloads shows the old edition.

ANY ADVICE FOR ME, ANYONE? I’M DETERMINED TO MAKE THIS WORK!

  37. Lissa says:

Hi, I’m Lissa from East Tennessee. We just finished up Beth Moore’s Esther study at church last week, and I am ready for more Moore! I have been a voracious reader since I was about 4 years old. While I loved most of the girlhood staples mentioned already – Nancy Drew, Judy Blume, Little House – by the time I was 10 or so, I was reading grown up literature. Not exactly the most wholesome stuff for a preteen child, but I survived.

I’ve not done an online study before, so this should be very interesting.

  38. LouisaR says:

    Hi from MT.

I’ve always been a book lover, but if I had to pick one I often went back to as a girl it would be “The Black Stallion” by Walter Farley.

  39. Robin says:

Hi! My name is Robin and I am from North Carolina. I am looking forward to this study! My all-time favorite book when I was a child was — There is a Monster at the End of this book. It was a sesame street book and Grover was the Monster at the end of the book! I still love to read this book to my 2 kids as well.

  40. Paula says:

Hello my name is Paula and I am in Texas. Looking forward to they study.

  41. Katherine says:

Hey All! I’m Kate and I’m from Pittsburgh, PA. I credit Beth Moore for “bring me back” to God! Flipping through the channels one night I stumbled on her. Her accent along with her infectious personality shed ‘new’ light on loving the Lord in a way I never thought! She has made the Lord ‘fun’ and ‘exciting’ for me!
I never enjoyed reading as child but I do remember when I began to learn to read my first book was Katie the Kitten! Perhaps because of the title! lol
Now I love to read though!
    Let’s Break Free!!!!
    XO

  42. Mia says:

Hey! I’m live in Alabama and I am really looking forward to doing a Bible study with adults! I work with the high school girls at my church – and I love them – they are great! But studying with other women will be good for me, too. I usually do adult studies all by myself.
The book I remember reading over and over again as a child was a poetry book titled “Where the Sidewalk Ends.”

  43. Rachel says:

Hello everyone! My name is Rachel and I live in Minnesota! I have never participated in a bible study before so I am very excited! And my favorite childhood books were “The Black Stallion” series!!

  44. Sesom says:

    Hello Everyone,

My name is Sesom and I live in Eugene, Oregon, and am excited to join a group. While not sharing myself with ladies, I attend Eugene Bible Collage (a 45 year old Freshman studying Pastoral Studies), volunteer with a hospice organization in town, and working to shed 100 pounds. So far, I managed to give away (ha ha ha) 15 pounds.
Anyway, my favorite book was the compilation of nursery rhymes — I forget the author.

Hope to share with you all soon.
    Sesom

  45. Dawn says:

My name is Dawn, and I live in North Carolina. I did the first version of this study, and it was fantastic. However, considering that I know I still have strongholds from which I need and want freedom, I am excited to be doing the updated version with all of you.

My favorite childhood books were the Nancy Drew mysteries.

  46. KHS says:

Joining a month late. Just ordered my workbook. Looking forward to being a part of a bible study. I have had a yearning for one for a long time. God answered my prayers this morning. I will have to say Charlotte’s Web was one of my favorite children books.

  47. goldie says:

Hello..My name is Goldie! I live in Louisiana and am very excited about this bible study because I have to much idol time on my hands. My favorite childhood book is The Little Mermaid.

  48. Denise says:

Hi..I found this site after committing myself to return to church and bible study after a 10 yr absence. I’m new to this and may need help. Anyway, my favorite childhood book was Cranberry Thanksgiving.

    • Christine says:

Welcome Denise! Each of the 50 women participating in the study have experienced an absence or dissatisfaction from faith, so you’re not alone. The study has helped us turn our hearts back to our faith as we learn with author Beth Moore. Please post a question anytime-no matter where you are in the study we are reading the comments and growing together in faith.

  49. Kharyzma says:

I just found this site today and I really think it will work for me. As a single mom with tween and teen daughters I often need to be in 3 places at one time – impossible of course. An independent bible study in a virtual group where I don’t have to go anyway but to my computer is great. I am from Maryland and my favorite books growing up were pretty much anything I could get my hands on to read – but like others that included Judy Blume, Pippi Longstocking and even Beatrice Potter (2nd grade).

  50. CHARMAINE says:

Welcome Kharyzma!!! So glad you’re here. Christine has done a very good job in addressing each day’s study and as you said you can work at your own pace.
Hope to get to know you…Will try to go back and check for any comments you might have. God bless!!
