I really want to be a part of this study…I am praying that I am signing up in the right place…looking forward to all the feedback on this class. blessing to you all -Nickie

  2. Denise says:

I recommend that the workshop Anne uses for any of her 5-step method inductive study be done by a teacher live with your group to let the group members actively particpate in doing each step and hearing one another discuss their responses. It builds confidence and excitement when you do it live. Women recognize that there is no ONE RIGHT ANSWER for each step. Watching it on a video is better than no workshop at all, but doing it live with a group is much more effective. We found fewer women getting discouraged and giving up on the method if they had this time for Q and A before starting the actual study. It would even be great to do the workshop with your small group leaders first before doing it with the large group. That way the leaders would be more confident in helping the women in their small groups.

We agree with you Denise, which is why we no longer offer the inductive format online. Women who participate online come here for the safety and the convenience of the study, as some even feel uncomfortable in church or small group. We’ve created this safe place for them to study together, learn together and grow in faith. With over 18,000 people visiting this site each month, we encourage women to grow in faith through womens Bible study. An inductive study is better in a face-to-face small group format. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

  3. The Online Bible Study is a bit different than a church or home study. This study has the flexibility for you to participate and attend at your convenience, which is why it was created. Your involvement centers around your personal schedule, all we ask is that you attempt to stay current with the reading so you can contribute to the conversations.

The Bible Study will send out a daily summary of the current lesson. For example, if we are on week 1, day 2, you’ll receive an RSS feed with a summary of the study for that day. We invite the participants to post a comment for the study- something you’ve discovered, something you’d like others to learn, something that touched your heart. Come by the “Bible Café” anytime during the day and post a comment about your study. Sometimes we’ll include a “poll” based upon a question the author asked in the book.

We’ll have guest authors in the new study, so if something is worthy of a long post, we’ll invite you to share an entire post about it.

We don’t share email address or personal information in the study, we have some “famous” women in the study and they prefer to be unnoticed. They are sharing personal information and do not want to be identified…they want a layer of safety where they can open up, speak freely and feel safe. Other women will use their blog URL or Open ID to link back to their own blogs where they are writing about the study. Participation depends on the individual.

We do not have a chat room, video group, etc with a scheduled time frame. If you think this is something that would benefit the Bible Study, we may want to incorporate the idea on a future study.

The video sessions for the study are always available from the Lifeway store. I paid $199 for the Leaders Kit so I can lead the study, the workbook is about $12 for the participants. You may read something that you want to explore in greater detail, in which case you’ll want to go to Lifeway and download the MP3 for that particular session.

I hope I’ve answered some of your questions. Please feel free to ask more as the questions are important and will help the entire group.
